SUMMARY

The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation. and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA),

commonly known as Superfund, authorizes the Federal Government, through the Environmental

on Superfund's National Priorities List, with remedial costs expected to be around $40 billion.
