Environmental Due Diligence (EDD), corporate and property, is now an integral part of the

international transaction process. Yet there are inherent variations in scope and expectation

resulting from national legislation and the different exposure and claims histories (litigious

environments) of the jurisdictions, within which the target and the Client operates. This article

considers some aspects of EDD scope within the US and European jurisdictions needed to deliver

robust and commercial advice.
