1. Information on waste and waste management

Until now, there has been no full-scale quantitative and qualitative analysis of medical waste.

The existing data was compiled in 1994 by the Polish branch of UNEP and WHO on the basis of

questionnaires filled in by medical care units. The results are not precise as long as waste

categorisation is concerned, also they do not account for the waste generated by the private

medical sector.
