INTRODUCTION

U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) Orders require that a facility-specific hazards assessment be

performed to support emergency planning activities. The Hazard Assessment establishes the

technical basis for the Emergency Action Levels (EALs) and the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ).

This document represents the facility-specific hazards assessment for the Hanford Site Solid

Waste Storage and Disposal (SWSD) organization as interpreted from DOE guidance (DOE 1992).
